Walk to Fight Women’s Cancers breaks the $1 million mark

- BCN Staff THANK YOU.

The Yamaska Valley Optimist Club and the Brome-missisquoi-perkins Hospital Foundation are pleased to announce that the 2020 Walk to Fight Women’s Cancers, which took place from October 4 to November 4, 2020 raised the magnificent sum of $75,000 for its virtual version! Despite the pandemic and the absence of the physical event, the Yamaska Valley Optimist Club and the Community have stepped forward to support women’s cancer treatment at the BMP Hospital. A tremendous mobilization that has allowed the Yamaska Valley Optimist Club to reach an incredible record.

Over $1 million dollars

By adding the amount raised through the 2020 Walk to Fight Women’s Cancers to the amount accumulated over the past 18 years, the Yamaska Valley Optimist Club is proud to have reached the significant sum of $1,055,594! More than $1 million has been raised to date. It is important to note that all of this money is directly invested in the purchase of equipment to prevent and treat women’s cancers. The Brome-missisquoi-perkins Hospital wishes to acquire this state-of-the-art equipment in order to improve the quality of care, as well as the safety and comfort of patients during surgery.

The Yamaska Valley Optimist Club and the BMP Hospital Foundation would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all those who donated, walked safely, encouraged and sponsored walkers in the 19th edition of the Walk to Fight Women’s Cancers. A special thank you to Mrs. Lengacher and her friends who raised the great sum of $9,000, to Mrs. Louise Penny who raised $7,000 through the sale of her “I’m F.I.N.E.” masks, to Mrs. Heather Padner for raising $4,120 and the the Walkers from Warden who raised $3,391,45!

Thanks also to the two Honorary CoChairs, Ms. Louise Penny, author of bestselling novels, and Dr. Christine Cadrin, gynecologist at the BMP Hospital, for your assistance in mobilizing the community and encouraging participation in this important event in the cause of women’s health. Thank you to the organizers of the event:
