Fromagerie La Station acquires funding for economuseum project
The provincial government is providing $162,300 in financial assistance to help get a project to develop an economuseum at Fromagerie La Station off the ground.
Economuseum’s are used to promote local craftspeople and cultural heritage. Quebec’s Tourism Minister Caroline Proulx, SaintFrançois MNA Geneviève Hébert,
Tourisme Cantons-de-l’est President Benoit Sirard made the announcement on Monday.
“This second gourmet-themed economuseum in the Eastern Townships, complementary to the existing one, will allow for the development of joint offers, which will benefit several tourism businesses in the region and promote the consumption of fresh local products,” said Proulx.
Fromagerie La Station will receive $90,300 under the Programme de soutien aux stratégies de développement touristique, a tourism development program. An additional $72,000 will be provided under the Entente de partenariat régional en tourisme and Tourisme Cantons-del’est.
With the Eastern Townships attracting an increasing amount of visitors every year, Proulx believes this project is another way for Quebecers to discover the region. Hébert echoed the minister’s statement in a press release.
“The Eastern Townships are very popular with tourists. It is one of the most visited regions in Quebec. I am very pleased that the Government of Quebec is supporting this project, which will enhance our already well-stocked agri-tourism and gourmet offer,” she said.
