Avante’s December Newsletter

-

In light of the ever-changing recommendations and desire to secure the safety of our members and staff, we will be offering our programming virtually until further notice. So, that means our scheduled DIY snowman on Friday, December 4 will be presented on Facebook live, and do tune in to Facebook live for “Cooking with Eggnog” on December 1. Don’t miss out on Mariah’s “We Challenge You” weekly series of riddles and brain teasers with awesome prizes, also on Facebook Live. Zoom Café will continue on December 10 at noon, with registration by December 4. The support group for Widows will continue to meet on zoom every 2 Monday at 10 a.m., with the next one scheduled for November 30. Please contact Barb for more information. “Meet Me There”, and “Movie Matinée” activities have been cancelled.

Also on Monday, November 30, Barb will be hosting a workshop via zoom called “Letting go of the perfect Christmas” at 1:30 p.m. There’s lots of apprehension about what we can and can’t do over the holidays. Learn how to cope with this emotional upheaval, share your concerns, and possibly help others find new ways to enjoy the season. Registration is required to receive the link and password.

Sadly, our well-attended Christmas potluck supper and toonie fair won’t be happening this year, but on Wednesday, December 16, all the Avante staff will be in a “zoom room” to share some Christmas cheer with anyone wanting to join us between 2 and 4 p.m. Which brings to mind the news that Christine will be returning from maternity leave on December 1! Take a moment on the 16th to welcome her back, and I’m sure she will be making frequent appearances on Facebook.

Please note that we are still available for one on one counselling and dropin services but we follow careful

procedures to ensure everyone’s safety.

Avante will be closing for the holidays on Friday, December 18 until Monday, January 4.
