I am in my third year at Bishop’s University. I study Arts Administration with an Honours Degree in Art History. The Lampe Foundation’s generosity has most certainly helped me succeed in my academic career. With the help of the Foundation’s generous award, I was liberated from some of my financial worries and could focus more attention on school. Despite the challenges the pandemic has created, I feel buoyed by the support I have been shown by the Lampe Foundation, and by the caring environment of the university administration and staff. I am incredibly grateful for both.
Around three years ago, I set a goal and began my journey to pursue my studies in nursing. With over 10 years’ experience as a licensed practical nurse at the CHUS and five years as a teacher at LVTC I knew I was ready for a new challenge. However, returning to school full time while juggling family finances is very stressful. Thankfully, there are organizations such as the Lampe Foundation, who have offered me the opportunity each year to earn a bursary and be recognized for my hard work. The support I’ve received from the Lampe Foundation definitely made a difference for me and my kids, and their acknowledgement gave me the motivation to work even harder and be a model student.
