Waterloo welcomes the largest asphalt pumptrack in Quebec
The town of Waterloo inaugurated the 3rd largest asphalt pumptrack in Quebec in 2017. It was built in Parc des Générations, a sports and recreational tourism park, and it has since expanded to become the largest asphalt track in
Quebec.
The pumptrack welcomes cycling enthusiasts at the national level and the illuminated multifunctional track is perfect for riding BMX, mountain bikes, but also scooters, rollerblades or skateboards.
The new pumptrack circuits have been accessible to everyone since June 24 and it’s not only the largest in Quebec, but one of the top five tracks in Canada. It also stands out by being the only one in the Montérégie and Eastern Townships region to offer all three levels of practice (beginner, intermediate and expert).
The enlargement of the track results in the addition of two segments. There is now a 155 m2 beginners’ track (ages 4-7) and another 350 m2 expert track that surrounds the existing track. With the intermediate portion, these additions bring its total area to 1280 m2.
Updating this infrastructure was essential to support, improve and structure the citizen and tourist offer in Waterloo in a way that complements the region.
“Providing access to safe and quality recreational infrastructure is a priority for us. In addition, with the proximity of our village heart, there will certainly be a favorable effect for our local traders,” commented Jean-marie Lachapelle,
Mayor of Waterloo, in the press release.
