Memphremagog MRC reinforces cultural commitment in the region
The Memphremagog MRC, through its cultural committee, announced April 17 its financial support for three local artists as part of the Eastern Townships Territorial Partnership Program. This initiative aims to bolster creators and artistic organizations in their projects related to creation, production, or distribution that promote connections between the arts and the community.
“The second call for projects has been a regional success with thirtysix accepted applications. I am convinced that this initiative will help us better showcase our cultural identity and strengthen the sense of belonging in our communities,” stated Nathalie Lemaire, chair of the Memphremagog MRC’S cultural committee and mayor of Eastman, in an April 17 press release.
The Eastern Townships Territorial
Partnership Program, launched as part of a three-year agreement in 2023, involves collaborations among the Arts Council of Quebec (CALQ), the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing, several regional county municipalities including Coaticook, Granit, Memphremagog, Sources, Valsaint-françois, Haut-saint-françois, and La Haute-yamaska, the City of Sherbrooke, the Brome-missisquoi Local Development Center, and the Eastern Townships MRC Board in cooperation with the Eastern Townships Cultural Council.
