LOOK, MA, NO WHEELS!

- _STEVEN THRENDYLE

Snow- or ski-bikes have evolved from simple plastic and metal “ski-bobs” to aggressive all-mountain rides with jacked-up suspensions that you mount like a motocross bike. Until you pass your go-solo test, enthusiastic Stefano “Babo” Babich from Trieste, Italy, and now owner of SkiBikeCanada at Sun Peaks, runs two-hour tours where riders learn the basics of lift-riding, turning and braking. (Well, not braking, unlike mountain bikes, ski-bikes don’t need ’em). But it’s easier than it looks here: like they say, if you can ride a bike, you can ski-bike. Tours are offered throughout the day for $69 plus SP lift ticket. This year, book online: skibikecanada.com.
