- ARTICLE & PHOTO CONTRIBUTED

Whether you are heading south for a few days, a week or several months there is much to do and see in West Palm Beach (WPB). If you are flying there are options: WPB has a nice airport; plus, Fort Lauderdale or Miami Airports are just south of WPB.

There are many options for lodging. Singer Island has several hotels right on the beach, plus there are several near the WPB airport or just north of the airport. If you are looking for an RV Park, check out Vacation Inn Resort (VIR). VIR has 400 ownership lots with several lots available for rent. This RV Park is only 8 km (5 mi) from the ocean and Singer Island and over 11 km (7 mi) from WPB City Center. VIR has weekly and monthly rates. If you do not own an RV, they have several owners who rent out their RVs.

Driving in WPB is less crazy than most large cities. The main city streets are wide with mostly four lane roads. City Center is the main shopping center near downtown WPB. Parking here is plentiful along with many restaurants, shops, a movie theatre and a bowling alley. Within 16 km (10 mi) of City Center you will find Palm Beach Outlet Mall and Palm Beach Gardens Mall. (There are also many restaurants near these shopping destinations). If you are looking for suggestions on a good restaurant, the Owners at VIR will be happy to help. A few favourites are: Island Jakes and Bimini Twist on Okeechobee Blvd, PF Chang’s, Too Jay’s & Brio Tuscan Grille are near the Palm Beach Gardens Mall, Vic & Angelo’s and The Waterway Cafe on PGA Blvd.

Sports fans will be thrilled to watch the Houston Astros and the Washington Nationals Major League Baseball Teams for spring training at The Ballpark of the Palm Beaches — just two kilometres from VIR. If you end up staying at VIR, they have several sport activities, which include tennis, pickle ball, horseshoes, shuffle board and bocce ball. The owners of VIR have tournaments throughout the year that are open to owners and renters. One of the favourite activities each year is the weekly golf outing. The Activity Chairman keeps the golfers well organized with their tee times and the annual highlight is “Quebec vs The World” golf tournament. On the hot days you will find many VIR owners or renters at the two heated pools at VIR. Starting in March, the Rapids Water Park, adjacent to VIR is open. The park has a wave pool, thirty-five water slides, including dual seven-story speed slides, and a fabulous quarter mile lazy river.

The owners of VIR believe that they have a fabulous and beautiful RV Park – they call it their “little piece of paradise.”

Check with the VIR office for availability at 561-848- 6170 or visit their website at www.vacationinnrvpark.com
