Martin and Honka to skate for Team Orr in Top Prospects Game

Swift Current Broncos defensemen Brycen Martin and Julius Honka will be among the top 40 Canadian Hockey League draft eligible players at 2014 BMO CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game in Calgary, AB, on January 15, 2014.

Martin and Honka were both named to Team Orr and are among 12 defensemen split between Team Orr and Team Cherry. 14 Western Hockey League players were named to the two rosters in total.

Martin, 17, will get the chance to play in his hometown of Calgary. The 6’2’’, 185-pound blueliner has already surpassed his rookie point total with two goals and 20 assists in 38 games in his second season with the Broncos.

Honka, a Jyaskyla, Finland native, was tied for second among WHL defensemen with 36 points in 35 games during his rookie season. The 18-year-old has also been named to Finland’s selection camp for the upcoming World Junior Hockey Championsh­ip.
