Martin and Honka to skate for Team Orr in Top Prospects Game

Swift Cur­rent Bron­cos de­fense­men Brycen Martin and Julius Honka will be among the top 40 Cana­dian Hockey League draft el­i­gi­ble play­ers at 2014 BMO CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game in Cal­gary, AB, on Jan­uary 15, 2014.

Martin and Honka were both named to Team Orr and are among 12 de­fense­men split be­tween Team Orr and Team Cherry. 14 Western Hockey League play­ers were named to the two ros­ters in to­tal.

Martin, 17, will get the chance to play in his home­town of Cal­gary. The 6’2’’, 185-pound blue­liner has al­ready sur­passed his rookie point to­tal with two goals and 20 as­sists in 38 games in his sec­ond sea­son with the Bron­cos.

Honka, a Jyaskyla, Fin­land na­tive, was tied for sec­ond among WHL de­fense­men with 36 points in 35 games dur­ing his rookie sea­son. The 18-year-old has also been named to Fin­land’s se­lec­tion camp for the up­com­ing World Ju­nior Hockey Cham­pi­onship.
