Senior basketball games continue in January. The Shaunavon Shadows and Silhouette­s remain undefeated in league play both with a record of 4-0.

On Jan. 14, the Shadows were winners over the Swift Current Junior Colts 72-59. Dean Wilkins led the way with 22 points while Travis Kirkpatric­k added 20. Nathan Braun replied for the Colts with 21 while Mitch Braun added 11.

The Silhouette­s also travelled to Swift Current where they defeated the Junior Ardens by a score of 91-15. Becca Hansen led all Silhouette players with 34 points while Renee Wilkins added 15.

In other senior league action on the 14th, the hometown Herbert Laurels were victorious over Gull Lake by a score of 58-41. Miranda Redekop was top scorerer for the Laurels with 16 while Alishia Beach contribute­d 11. Top scorer for the Lady Lions was Karin Roen with 11 and Kelsey Barsness with eight points.

The Frontier Raiders were in Herbert as well that night. The hometown boys won easily by a score of 107-57. Frank Meyers had 24 points and Zeke Barraquio had 21 for the winning cause. Top scorers for Frontier included Jake Knelson with 20 and Lex Delacruz with 14.

Our senior curling teams will begin playoffs on Jan. 31/Feb 1. There will be two playoff locations – Maple Creek and Cadillac (Ponteix hosting). Games will Maple Creek will take place on Saturday, Feb 1 at

8@ 10 a.m., 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. Teams taking part include – Maple Creek, Fox Valley, Hazlet, Cabri and Shaunavon.

Games at Cadillac will take place both Friday Jan 31 (games at 1 p.m., 3:30 p.m., 6 p.m.) and Saturday, Feb. 1 (games at 10 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 3 p.m.). Teams participat­ing include Ponteix, Swift Current Comp, Hodgeville, Herbert, Gull Lake and Val Marie.

The winners will advance to the SWAC district championsh­ips being held in Gull Lake on Feb. 7-8.
