For­mer Writer-in-res­i­dence re­turn­ing to wrap 2016-17 Write Out Loud

The 30th sea­son of Swift Cur­rent’s Write Out Loud se­ries will wrap up on May 17 when for­mer Writer-in­res­i­dence Rod Macin­tyre re­turns.

The grand fi­nale of the an­niver­sary sea­son se­ries will be held at the Lyric Theatre start­ing at 7 p.m. Lo­cal mu­si­cian Dani Jamieson will pro­vide the mu­si­cal en­ter­tain­ment for the evening.

In 1997-1998, Macin­tyre served as Writer in Res­i­dence at the Swift Cur­rent Pub­lic Li­brary and took over man­age­ment of the Swift Cur­rent read­ing se­ries that con­tin­ued to show­case Cana­dian au­thors and lo­cal writ­ing tal­ent.

His works in­clude short story col­lec­tions Feed­ing at Nine, Revved, The Cry­ing Je­sus, Apart, The Blue Ca­maro, and novel Yule­tide Blues, all pub­lished by This­tle­down Press. His sto­ries have ap­peared in an­tholo­gies such as The Blue Jean Col­lec­tion, Open­ing Tricks, What is Al­ready Known, and 200% Cracked Wheat. His plays have been pro­duced in such venues as 25th Street Theatre and the Sta­tion Arts Cen­tre.

He is the re­cip­i­ent of many writ­ing awards such as the Saskatchewan Book Award for Best Ed­u­ca­tional Book, and a Saskatchewan Book Award’s Saska­toon Book of the Year.
