Law firm makes donation to Healthcare Foundation

The partners at Macbean Tessem made a generous $10,000 donation in support of the Dr. Noble Irwin Regional Healthcare Foundation on May 10.

The donation will support equipment purchases in the Maternity Department at the Cypress Regional Hospital.

“We just felt it was a way to say thanks to the citizens of Swift Current and surrounding community. Its been a real privilege for us to practice law in this community. We thought of ways to try and give back, and we know Clay and the work that the Foundation has done. And it just felt that this was time to do it,” explained Foster Tessem.

The law firm has been part of the community since 1905, and Tessem felt this was an ideal donation because of the wide spread impact of healthcare to the region.

“We meet clients in nursing homes. We see the work that the Foundation is doing in the City. It’s just such an integral part of our healthcare.”

Clay Thompson, Executive Director of the Dr. Noble Irwin Regional Healthcare Foundation, noted that the donation will serve as a kick off for a $120,000 campaign to update equipment in the Maternity Department at the Cypress Regional Hospital. Their campaign will help purchase three new birthing beds to replace a trio of older units, plus it will help buy a new fetal monitor along with another infant warmer.

“It’s always nice when we get an opportunity to get a gift from a group like this… and lets people know there’s an opportunity and encourages others to do the same,” Thompson said.
