Saskfirst rosters announced
The Saskatchewan Hockey Association recently announced three rosters for their Saskfirst High Performance Program and some Southwest skaters remain in the running.
Two members of the Swift Current Diamond Energy Female Midget AAA Wildcats remain with the 20-player Saskfirst Female U16 program. Assiniboia’s Amaya Giraudier is one of two goaltenders on the squad. Giraudier had an outstanding rookie campaign with a 2.09 goals against average and a .914 save percentage.
Gull Lake’s Baylee Kirwan is one of 12 forwards on the roster. Kirwan was fourth in team scoring with 20 points in 28 regular season games during her rookie season.
The Saskfirst Male U16 program trimmed its roster down to 29 players, including three members of the Swift Current Kabos Bantam AA Broncos.
Waldeck’s Justin Dueck is one of three goaltenders still on the roster. Dueck finished with a 9-5-1 record in the Saskatchewan Bantam AA Hockey League regular season with a 3.02 GAA. He was 2-2 in the postseason with a 2.70 GAA.
Swift Current’s Joe Arntsen is one of 12 defensemen still in the running. He was second in league scoring amongst defenseman with 50 points in 31 games before adding eight points in six playoff games.
Hayden Wilm rounds out the Bantam Broncos trio. The Central Butte native is one of 14 forwards after tying for the team lead with 54 points in 30 games and then adding nine points in six playoff contests.
The Female U18 Saskfirst program is down to 30 players, including three members of the Wildcats. Warman’s Ryleigh White is still vying for a spot on the blueline with 10 other skaters from across the province. White chipped in 10 points in 25 regular season games with the Wildcats.
Shaunavon’s Taylor Lind and Rosetown’s Carissa Hogan are amongst 16 forwards still attempting to make the team, which is coached by Wildcats coach Terry Pavely and will compete in the Canada Winter Games in Red Deer.
Lind was third in league scoring with 52 points in 27 games and added four points in as many playoff outings. Hogan was second in team scoring with 24 points in 28 games. She added two points in the playoffs.
