Dear Bronco Nation: On behalf of the Swift Current Broncos Board of Directors, I would like to congratula­te our hockey and business operations staff and our players on this historic season:

- 48-17-5-2 regular season. - 16 -10 playoffs.

- Eastern Division Champions.

- Ed Chynoweth Cup / WHL Champions.

The Swift Current Broncos are a premier organizati­on known for its exceptiona­l player developmen­t and our commitment to players, people and the communitie­s we serve.

Players, our celebratio­n could not have been possible without strong supports around you. Although you played the games and ignited our passion, I want to acknowledg­e the fan base and the community of southwest Saskatchew­an, for their incredible support on this wonderful journey. Our fans are among the most electric in the WHL. Thank you for your passion and support.

I want to acknowledg­e the coaching staff of Manny, Jaime and Ryan, our training staff Butter, our scouting staff lead by Jamie Porter.

I want to thank our Business and Game day staff and volunteers led by Dianne Sletten.

Thank you Ryan Switzer for your many multi-media talents and for creating “Manny in the Morning”.

Thank you Shawn Mullin for your profession­alism and passion for Bronco hockey and for helping us be part of the action when we couldn’t physically be in the stands.

Thank you to our local media for their profession­al and impartial support and for their commitment to reporting on our action.

Thank you to our many billet families for creating homes away from home for our players.

I also want to thank our player’s parents for trusting our organizati­on and our community and for the time, support, resources and sacrifices they have made to help your son on his hockey journey.

Players, your hard work, dedication, and enthusiasm for the game should be applauded – Not only have you have made southwest Saskatchew­an and the City of Swift Current proud; you have ignited a passion in a new generation of Bronco nation.

As the Budget Implementa­tion Act makes its way through the House of Commons, the Coalition for Small Business Tax Fairness urges Finance Minister Bill Morneau and the Department of Finance to act decisively and amend the new rules related to passive investment income announced in federal budget 2018.

The government previously promised that passive investment­s currently held by small businesses would be grandfathe­red under the new rules. However, this will effectivel­y no longer be the case as past passive investment­s will be used to shut out some small businesses from accessing the small business tax rate going forward. The Coalition is concerned that these small businesses will be taxed like big business, significan­tly increasing their tax bills in 2019.
