Humphrey wins Barrel Racing at Diamond Rodeo
Ladies Barrel Racing was the top event for the Southwest with five ladies hitting the pay window at the Diamond Rodeo in Warman on June 8-10. Eastend’s Bailee Humphrey won the event in 13.2 seconds for $1,449. Stewart Valley’s Janet-lynn Moen followed in fifth spot in 13.57 seconds for $693. Mankota’s Bailey Briere was next up in sixth spot in 13.6 seconds for $504. Shaunavon’s Haley Glasrud and Maple Creek’s Sydney Murphy finished in a three-way tie for seventh in 13.61 seconds for $147.
Murphy also finished tied for second with Maple Creek’s Logan Resch in Junior Girls Barrel Racing in 13.86 seconds for $168 apiece. Janae Wilson, also from Maple Creek, followed in fourth spot in 13.87 seconds for $67.
Maple Creek’s James Perrin tied for top spot in Junior Steer Riding with a 72-point ride for $182.
Kyle’s Kade Cheney tied for top spot in Novice Bareback with 70 points for $189. Maple Creek’s Blake Link was fourth with 68 points for $54.
Swift Current’s Timothy Costello continued a strong weekend with a third-place showing in Saddle Bronc after a 70-point ride on Twister for $484.
Maple Creek’s Tanner Jones worked with Taylor Wudrich (Bow Island) to place third in Team Roping in 6.8 seconds for $1,438. Cadillac’s Tony and Kelton Lang tied for fourth in 6.9 seconds for $1,057. Waldeck’s Tee and Scott Mcleod were eighth in 11.6 seconds for $169.
A pair of Southwest cowboys were in the Steer Wrestling pay window in Warman. Val Marie’s Riley Hayes placed fourth in 9.7 seconds for $428. Kyle’s Chad Hantelman was fifth in 11.3 seconds for $275.
Stewart Valley’s Aaron Moen added a sixth place finish in Tie Down Roping. He got the job done in 11.8 seconds for $144.
The CCA has three rodeos this weekend, including Saskatchewan stops in Eston and Maple Creek.
