Summer Reading Club launches at the Swift Current Library

An excited group of children noisily settled in for an afternoon of activities at the July 5 launch of the TD Summer Reading Club at the Swift Current Library.

The program runs for the next six Thursday’s until August 16 at the Library starting at 2 p.m.

The TD Summer Reading Club is aimed at children aged two to five. This story-time program includes books, rhyme,s finger plays, crafts and puppet shows.

For the older set, the Maker Kids’ Club meets at 2 p.m. on Thursday’s from July 2 to August 16. This program is aimed at children aged six to 12.

The Maker Kids’ Club session on July 12 will be the second part of a make your own LED Boot.

A special event will be held July 19 when the Saskatchew­an Science Centre will present GO! Science. This afternoon is geared towards children in Kindergart­en to Grade 6, and gives participan­ts an interactiv­e learning opportunit­y. The afternoon starts at 1 p.m. with a session With Great Power, followed by Building Better at 2 p.m. and Healthy Planet, Healthy Life at 3 p.m. Participan­ts can attend one or all of the three sessions. The remainder of the summer schedule is as follows:

July 26 - Make an LED Flashlight.

August 2 - LEGO and Stikbot Stop-motion Animation.

August 9 - LED Butterfly Lanterns.

August 16 - Read to a Donkey, and play with Sphero Bots.
