Value Partners Investments expands to Saskatchewan

Winnipeg founded investment firm Value Partners Investments has expanded into Saskatchewan, with Swift Current’s Warren Hope joining the company as a Partner.

Hope will be working with Value Partners Investment Counsel, providing a full range of wealth planning services.

”The thing that attracted me most to the company was their focus on the success of their clients. That was really unusual I found in the industry. That they measure every client count as well as the client as a whole to see how successful they are. So when I’m trying to look after my clients, it gives me a lot of confidence knowing that the firm that I’m working for is concerned as well,” he explained during a press conference to announce his new position.

He added that Value Partners places a strong focus on transparency when making investment decisions.

“They let their clients know exactly what they own and why they own it. Any time there’s a buy or a sell in any of the portfolios or any of the pools, they communicate that immediately to the people so they know exactly whats been bought or sold from their portfolio,” Hope said.

“I find it really interesting, when people start to really learn what they own, how they take even more ownership of that and more comfort in knowing, instead it sort of being a black box that they don’t understand what’s going on inside of.”

Hope, who boasts clients from Nova Scotia to British Columbia, will predominantly focus his efforts on Swift

Current and Southwest Saskatchewan.

Value Partners President Gregg Filmon said their expansion into Saskatchewan was an easy decision.

“One is because we found the right person that actually we trust to serve the clients here in a very intelligent, ethical way. That’s the first thing. We didn’t start by saying there is an opportunity in Saskatchewan. We started by saying there is somebody here who can make our business better.”

“The second thing is, from Manitoba, I struggle with trying to relate to people in Montreal or Toronto, and to make connections in a meaningful way. We started in Winnipeg, but then it was Brandon, then it was Regina or Prince Albert - those communities where you could actually meet somebody and say lets have a conversation about how we could work together. So Saskatchewan is full of those types of opportunities, where you have people that have worked hard, they’ve created a lot of wealth, and they deserve to get really good advise. And we now have somebody here to provide it.”
