Midget 57’s near end of regular season

The Swift Current Midget AAA 57’s lost a pair of Saskatchew­an Premier Baseball League games in Regina to the White Sox on Tuesday.

The 57’s dropped the opener 13-3 when they were held to three hits. Brody Alexandre tripled and scored, while leadoff man Quinn Patenaude hit a pair of singles.

The 57’s dropped the second game 9-5 when the White Sox scored in five of the six innings that they hit in.

Right-fielder Hunter Johnson hit his first home run of the season in a losing cause. Nathan Mcinnis and Logan Fritzke each had two-hit outings for the 57’s. Mac Gross singled, scored, and stole a base.

Saturday, the Midget 57’s split a double header against the host Regina Wolfpack.

They won the opener 8-6 when eight of nine hitters finished with at least one hit, led by first baseman Gross with three hits, one run scored, and one run batted in.

Alexandre tripled, singled, scored and added two RBI’S. Fritzke doubled, singled, stole a base, scored, and knocked home one run.

Nolan Klein earned the complete game win as he struck out six over seven innings.

The 57’s knocked out 15 hits in the second game, but made nine errors in a 20-15 loss. The 57’s put together a pair of five-run innings, but the Wolfpack had four innings of at least four runs.

Nic Bachiu finished the game with three hits, four runs scored, one stolen base, and one RBI. Patenaude also had three hits to go along with two walks, one run scored, and three RBI’S. Gross added three hits, one walk, one run, and one RBI.

The 57’s improved to 10-18 in the split with two games remaining in the Saskatchew­an Premier Midget AAA Baseball League regular season.
