Chinook School Division Sports Report
Thanks to commissioner Todd Gramlich and the Burstall Golf Course for hosting the SWAC Golf Championship on Saturday. It was a warm, blustery day, but what a nice golf course and club house.
The Swift Current Comp. male golf team will attend the Provincial Championship in North Battleford on Sept. 2122. In addition, Kaden Gramlich, from Fox Valley, also qualified for the individual championship. The SCCHS girl’s golf team is unable to attend the provincial golf tournament this year.

SWAC football teams were in action on the weekend. The Gull Lake Lions hosted the Central Butte Bulldogs on Friday, Sept. 7. The hometown Lions won convincingly by a score of 35-8.
The SCCHS Colts were in Moose Jaw against MJ Peacock on Saturday, Sept. 8. The Colts came away with a 21-6 win.
Quarterback Austin Beverlycollins finished 12-for-14 with two touchdown passes and no interceptions.
Rhett Vavra made seven catches for 101 yards, including 10-yard and 18-yard touchdown receptions. Kyle Krause added a third major on a twoyard touchdown run. Ethan Kurtz kicked all three extra points.
There are three games scheduled for our football teams in the upcoming week. On Thursday, Sept. 13, the SCCHS Colts host their home opener against MJ Vanier. Kickoff is 7 p.m.
It’s Friday Night Lights on September 14! The Shaunavon Shadows travel to Maple Creek to play under the lights. Kickoff is 8 p.m.
The Gull Lake Lions will be on the road, Friday, Sept. 14, to Outlook to take on LCBI.
There are upcoming soccer games for the SCCHS Ardens and Colts. Thursday, Sept. 13 the SCCHS Colts will travel to Moose Jaw Central. On Friday and Saturday (Sept. 13-14), SCCHS Ardens are in Moose Jaw for Soccerfest.
The SWAC senior girls’ volleyball league has five teams entered (Eastend, Gull Lake, Vanguard, Hazlet, Ponteix). First league night is Tuesday, Sept. 18. We have two teams interested in a SWAC senior boy’s league (Frontier, Vanguard). We are still working out the details of a double home/home.
