Lancer gearing up for 48th annual Chokecherry Festival
A Thanksgiving long weekend tradition continues again this year when the 48th annual Lancer Chokecherry Festival will be held on October 6 and 7.
The majority of the festival’s activities will be held on Saturday, October 6, kicking off with a pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.
In addition to some of the familiar activities at the Chokecherry Festival, a mud bog has been planned for 2 p.m.
A schedule of activities is as follows:
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 6 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. - Pancake breakfast.
8 a.m. to 11 a.m. - Jam, jelly and syrup.
10 a.m. to 4 p.m. - Bake Sale, United Church.
10 a.m. to 5 p.m. - Mainstreet Activities.
11 a.m. to 3 p.m. - Museum open.
1 p.m. - Parade (entries line up at the ball diamonds at 12:30 p.m.).
2 p.m. to 4 p.m. - Food Fair (beef on a bun, soup, pies).
2 p.m. to 4 p.m. - Show and Shine.
2 p.m. - Mud Bog (location to be determined).
9 p.m. - Dance, Mitch Larock & 4:54 Band.
Horseshoes are available all day, and a blacksmith demonstration will be held at the north side of the Hall. SUNDAY, OCTOBER 7 11 a.m. - Interfaith Church Service, Lancer Catholic Church. Potluck lunch to follow at the Hall.
11 a.m. - Trap Shoot (registration at 10 a.m.).
