Watoto Children’s Choir performing in Swift Current on March 1
A talented group of young performers from Uganda will be in Swift Current on March 1 when the Watoto Children’s Choir performs during their We Will Go tour.
The choir will be performing music from their new album “We Will Go” during a presentation at First United Church on March 1 at 6:30 p.m. While in Swift Current they are also performing a private performance at a local retirement home.
Watoto Children’s Choir have performed in Swift Current a number of times, but this year’s choir features new voices from young performers mostly aged between seven and 13.
During their worship experience they perform a repertoire of songs which blend African rhythms and contemporary gospel music, along with ethnic dancing.
They are currently on an ambitious six month tour which began back on January 18 in Vancouver and includes 20 dates in BC and 14 shows before they reach Swift Current for the first of only five Saskatchewan performances.
They will continue through to Manitoba for dates starting March 8, and then performing though Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, and Prince Edward Island, before making their way back to Ontario for their final tour performance on July 7.
Watoto Children’s Choir performs around the world to help raise an understanding of the plight of Africa’s most vulnerable children and women.
