Holiday Train making annual stop in Southwest on December 18

The CP Holiday Train will be rolling through the Southwest on December 18 during its annual trip through Saskatchew­an.

The train will make stops in Swift Current at noon on Wednesday, December 18, and at 2:45 p.m. in Maple Creek during the final day of the Holiday Train’s 2019 journey.

Riding the train his year will be the talented trio of Meghan Patrick, Tanika Charles and Kelly Prescott. The trio have been performing on the Holiday Train tour since December 2.

Meghan Patrick enjoyed a breakout 2019, earning a Juno Award nomination as Breakthrou­gh Artist of the Year as well as a nomination for Country Album of the Year for Country Music Made Me Do It.

She released her first solo album, Grace and Grit, produced the top 10 single Still Loving You.

She has also earned eight Canadian Country Music Award nomination­s. Patrick’s most recent recording is the EP Wild As Me. To kick off 2020 she will be on tour with Old Dominion.

Tanika Charles had a 2017 Juno Nomination for her debut full length album Soul Run in the R&b/soul Recording of the Year category. The album also earned a Polaris Prize nomination for her debut. Earlier this year she was named the Polaris Music Prize’s first-ever artist in residence. Charles released her follow-up album The Gumption back in May. Charles will also be in Swift Current on March 7 to headline a Blenders

Concert series show.

Kelly Prescott released her debut EP Hillbilly Jewels in 2016, and followed up with the single Leaving’ Her this past year.

Donations of cash and non perishable food items will be taken at both Southwest Holiday Train stops in support of the Salvation Army Food Bank.
