Legionnair­es take two of three

The Swift Current Home Hardware Legionnair­es won two of three games in the Saskatchew­an Midget AAA Hockey League last week.

Tuesday, Quinn Strang scored twice in a 43-second span to lead the Legionnair­es to a 5-4 overtime win over the visiting Notre Dame Hounds. Strang scored in the final second of regulation and then scored 42 seconds into overtime to complete the hat trick to lead the Legionnair­es to the win.

Maguire Scheidt followed with a goal and two assists. Jaxon Martens added a goal and an assist and Spencer Bell chipped in two assists. Ryan Mccleary, Kalan Lind, Logan Linklater, and Brett Fogg all added assists. Jacob Herman earned the win with 29 saves. Marcus Bjorn took the loss with 31 saves.

Andrew Stuckless scored twice for the Hounds, while Connor Keough and Blake Rasmuson also scored.

Saturday, the Legionnair­es led the host Prince Albert Mintos 3-1 before allowing four unanswered goals in a 5-3 loss.

Martens, Bell, and Tyler Council all scored. Tyler Hilbig, Scheidt, and Jakin Lawrence added assists. Herman took the loss with 30 saves on 34 shots.

Sunday, the Legionnair­es erupted in an 8-1 win over the host Beardy’s Blackhawks. Bell led the Legionnair­es with a goal and two assists, while Logan Linklater scored twice. Scheidt and Brett Fogg each finished with a goal and an assist. Cash Arntsen, Riley Dekowny, and Council all scored. Martens and Rhett Evjen both had two-assist outings, while Eric Robbie, Brandon Von Hagen, Lawrence, Strang, and Carey Levesque all added single helpers. Herman made 40 saves on 41 shots in the win.

The Legionnair­es will visit the Battleford­s Stars for a pair of games this weekend. They also visit the Saskatoon Blazers on Wednesday.
