Healthcare Foundation launches new campaign to support mental health

-

The Dr. Noble Irwin Regional Healthcare Foundation has switched gears to get a new campaign underway, as they have already launched a $9,500 campaign to assist the Mental Health Unit at the Cypress Regional Hospital. The fundraising effort was kicked off with a $5,000 donation from The Wawanesa Mutual Insurance Company, so the campaign is only $4,500 away from its goal.

“We are happy to give a $5,000 donation to the Dr. Noble Irwin Regional Healthcare Foundation to help fund urgent and growing needs caused by the COVID-19 pandemic to help kick off the funding for the Mental Health Unit,” stated Carla Traill, Community, Sponsorship & Events Coordinator, The Wawanesa Mutual Insurance Company. “This donation is part of a larger giving campaign at Wawanesa Insurance called Caring Together – an initiative that includes donations to hospital foundations, United Way centres, Canadian Red Cross, and True North Aid, in the places where we work and live.”

Jim Dekowny, Executive Director for the Dr. Noble Irwin Regional Healthcare Foundation, noted they will be collecting funds for the first time through the popular Go Fund Me website.

“I think it’s important that we announce the Mental Health campaign because Wawanessa had stepped up and really come to the table for the campaign and started it off. Wawanessa came in and said they would give us half the community can raise half. So now we’ve decided that we’re going to try this Go Fund Me charity account and see how that transpires. With COVID and the inability to get together and do fundraisers, trying this on a smaller scale with the Mental Health Unit and their needs, I think it’s important that we test the waters with this Go Fund Me account and see how things go.”
