Largest Maverick School graduating class bids farewell to high school

Maverick School said farewell to their largest graduating class in school history, with 28 students completing their Grade 12 studies during the 2019-2020 school year.

Students in the Maverick School Graduating Class of 2020 were: Jacey Bates, Mitchell Clarke, Destiny Fehr, Kaelen Flaterud, Clay Geissler, Ara Ginter, Max Ginter, Kaia Hessie, Keawna Hettinger, Christian Jeffries, Klyrissa Johnson, Rory Kequahtoow­ay, Raeanne Korchynski, Rebecca Korchynski, Carson Lacher, Mikayla

Lemay, Riley Lie, Jaxson Macdonald, Karsyn Mehler, Bailey Padley, Amber Pare, Robert Schumann, Savannah Smith, Travis Sparks, Sara Sutherland, Carsten Tardif, Glenna Urbanoski, and Kyler Westbury.

A number of students also celebrated receiving graduation award for their achievemen­ts during the school term. Award winners were as follows:

Ron Thurbide Memorial Bursary $500 - Sara Sutherland.

Innovation Credit Union Spirit Award $500 - Bailey Padley.

Leonard Family Control Theory Award $250 each - Sara Sutherland and Rebecca Korchynski.

Maverick School Student Parent Award $500 - Keawna Hettinger.

Maverick School Resilience Award $500 - Amber Pare.

Maverick School Post-secondary Scholarshi­p $500 - Kaia Hessie.

Bryan Tallon Memorial Awards: Educationa­l Studies Award $500 - Rebecca Korchynski; Persistenc­e Awards $500 each - Ara Ginter and Klyrissa Johnson.

Pioneer Cooperativ­e Bursary $500 – Kaia Hessie.

Drug Strategy Action Committee Bursary $1,000 - Keawna Hettinger.
