Classic Courier
JONATHAN VACCA PURCHASED HIS ’75 FORD COURIER BACK IN 2007. A two-owner truck previously, it was meant to serve as simple shuttle to and from work, but it quickly grew into something more.
The stock engine has been replaced with a 1.8L four-cylinder five-speed from a 1980 to keep the truck running. The Courier has been ’bagged, with custom upper ’bag mounts and modified lower control arms in the front. The truck’s air system runs on nitrogen, with two auxiliary tanks in the rear connected by stainless steel hard lines. Disc brakes have been pulled from a 1980 in better shape than the ’75, giving the Courier enhanced drivability. Sixteeninch Alcoa wheels adhere to the classic theme.
On the body, the drip rails, tailgate hinges and the front bumper have been shaved to give the Ford a clean-cut silhouette.
The custom cowl hood scoop is the cherry on top. The bedsides have been extended with replacement rocker panels along the rear, and Toyota Supra taillights were installed for a truly custom setup. Rhino Liner coats the bed, and the roof features a ragtop for a unique alteration. The bottom of the hood, upper doorframes and tailgate chains, as well as the nitrogen tanks in the rear, are powder-coated white. All of the would-be chrome has been powder-coated silver.
On the interior, custom-made kick panels have been installed with 6.5-inch and 5.25-inch speakers with tweeters to accompany them. The heater controls were removed, and the deck and EQ were mounted in their place. The dash has been shaved, and the dash over the gauges was redone in fiberglass and wrapped. Behind the seat, a custom-ported box with two 10-inch subwoofers and two amps connect to the sound system via crossovers under the seat. Custom headliner, billet wheel, seat and sun visors top off the cab’s renovations.
Jonathan still looks forward to painting his baby with silver and blue metallic traditional flames with green and silver metallic tribal flames over the top. Considering all of the work he’s already put into his Courier, we can’t wait to see how the build turns out.
