ONE OF THE TOUGHEST THINGS ABOUT THE “BEST OF” AWARDS IS THAT OTHER THAN BEST TRUCK, THE WINNERS ARE ULTIMATELY CHOSEN BY THE EDITOR. I can ask as many insiders as I know to give their opinion, I can reach out to the fans on social media to give their votes, and I can ask our crew who they feel they should win. But at the end of the day, it’s up to the one person in the editor seat. With a happy winner generally comes some unhappy runners-up—with supporters of the truck owner having no problem letting us know we made the wrong choice. Picking the Best Of winners is a tough position to be in, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything, and I think we have the best team in the business who would back up these picks any day of the week. Each year we let the fans pick the Best Truck while we pick the rest. This year, we reached out to a local expert in the art of metal bead rolling to create some super cool awards for the winners. We will ship these directly to the winners to hang in their shops as a reward for their hard work.
A new category in this list of awards is Manufacturer of the Year, where we choose the one parts manufacturer that stands out among the rest. On page 52, you can see 2020’s winning company, which builds its parts right here in the USA. The crew’s build quality is second to none, and their customer service is setting new standards in the aftermarket automotive industry.
We’re already seeing quite a title fight of cover trucks in 2021. The Best Of awards will be tough to win this year, and we still have eight months left!
