Summer livin’, happened so fast. Like a late-into-the-night chat with a dear friend, summer never lasts quite as long as we’d like it to. But we’re determined to make the absolute most of it, whether we’re in the city, in cottage country or even abroad. Our Summer Living issue sets out to inspire sunny style that will emanate warmth and joy long after the season is over.

Take advantage of your outdoor space like a designer – two pros give us a glimpse into their exterior “rooms” and how they use them. Erin Feasby’s cleverly compartmentalized backyard in Etobicoke, Ont., suits the needs of kids and adults alike (“Fair Play,” page 56), while Vancouverite Ami McKay brings a relaxed West Coast attitude to entertaining on her waterfront deck (“Barefoot Fancy,” page 60).

For the wanderluster, we feature summer homes that are both luxe and cozy. In “Tasteful Twist” ( page 66), witness a stately nature-inspired gem in Muskoka, Ont., defined by its grand proportions, laid-back furnishings and pops of modernism. “Ship Shape” ( page 74) shows off a New Jersey getaway animated with seaside motifs in bold red and blue tones. One of Ontario’s vacation hot spots, Prince Edward County, puts its best foot forward with Jennifer Garnett’s chic eclectic cottage (page 82). Plus, a special edition of Style Destination (page 22) rounds up our most-loved locales for a warm-weather trip.

Last but not least, be sure to check out our summery product picks, starting with this month’s Style News column ( page 15), which features Canadian selections in honour of our nation’s birthday.

Leaf through and soak it all up. Fleeting as the season may be, let’s make it one to remember!
