Livestream Movi

-

That’s a funny-looking movie projector.

No, silly! Movi isn’t a projector, it’s a ‘live event camera’. When used in conjunction with its dedicated iOS app, Movi can capture multiple live shots, even though it’s just one camera.

Eh? How does it do that?

The Movi has a 150-degree all-glass lens and a 4K sensor that work with the app to enable you to manipulate up to nine virtual HD cameras. You can live-edit footage using gestures to pan, zoom and cut between multiple live shots. The Movi also has an automated editing mode with movement tracking and people detection so that you can focus on a particular person or action during filming. Clever, eh?

Can I share and stream the footage I capture?

You can record, edit and share (via Facebook, YouTube and email, for example) your footage, but if you want to stream it you’ll need a Livestream subscription (plans start at $9/£6 a month) – and that’s caused a few grumbles among would-be customers.

So I can shoot my mate’s band using just one camera?

Yep, you can capture multiple shots from this pocket camera, negating the need for a big rig. The 4K sensor and built-in mic help you capture high-quality video and sound, and you can record it all to the 16GB microSD card. The Movi is also Cloud connected and Wi-Fi enabled.

I’m intrigued. When is it available?

The Movi is available to pre-order now for $ 299 (£ 210), with the price rising to $ 399 (£ 280) when it officially releases in April.
