Travel smarter on your scooter

-

Discover a new way of exploring by pairing your grown-up two-wheeler with the world’s first satnav designed especially for scooters

Satnavs make it easier to get from A to B in a car, but what if you ride a scooter? You might plan your route before setting off, or stick in an earbud to hear audio directions from that phone stashed in your pocket. Neither are ideal. With the arrival of the TomTom Vio, the first satnav for scooters, it’s about to get much better.

The Vio’s mission is to know everything about the roads you’re travelling along, from what bars and restaurants you’ll be passing, should you fancy a quick bite, to where speed cameras are lurking.

Working with the TomTom Vio app, this waterproof satnav streams and displays live road info from your phone. Traffic-jam warnings, and suggestions for alternative routes, plus audio navigation are part of the service.

The capacitive 2.4-inchdiameter screen is glove-friendly, displaying caller information, plus speed

and fuel data. You can also add your favourite destinations to the TomTom map, navigating to them from where you are with one tap.

Start your adventure to day

To smarten up your scooter, nab a TomTom Vio (£150, tomtom.com), available in seven different colours.

Next, download the Vio smartphone app (Android 4.4+, iOS 9+) and pair the satnav with your smartphone.

Finally, mount the Vio on your handlebar or mirror bar – both mounts are included.
