Add a device

Before you do anything, grab the Tado app from the App Store or Google Play. Once you’ve registered, you can log in and start adding devices. Tap Add device, choose the product to install and register each one. Give each device a specific name as it’ll be easier to find later on. You can choose a pro installation or DIY.

see your devices

Assuming you’ve managed to get your system up and running, you should now see all your devices within the app. The currently selected device will be displayed in the main screen at all times – to see the others, tap the menu on the left side and scroll to reveal more. Tap on one to open it up in more detail.

control devices

With a device open, you can see info relating to it, including the current temperature. To manually control the temperature tap the thermometer bar, choose the temperature you want, how long you want it to be set for and then tap ‘Start’. You can also turn on basic frost protection by toggling the switch next to Heating to off.

schedule heating

Manual control is fine, but Tado works much better when you tell it when you want to heat your home, and by how much. You can independently control this within each device – just tap the schedule icon in the top-right corner. You can also get your heating ready when it’s scheduled by tapping the cog and selecting Early Start.

use your location

If you don’t want to mess with schedules too much, don’t worry – Tado’s geo-location functionality auto adjusts the heating when you’re not there. Go to the scheduler, tap Away and choose the automatic away temp (or manual, if you prefer). When you’re near home, Tado will recognise you and start heating the home.

fine-tine heating

Depending where a device is located, it might not give a totally accurate temperature reading for a room. To adjust for different scenarios – a device next to a draughty window, for example – go to the main menu -> Settings -> Temperature Offset and adjust the temperature up or down to compensate for this.
