t3 Selects: Music suggestion services
Find new tunes based on exactly what you like
last.fm
This old dog may seem pretty dated but it’s still one of the best ways to find tunes you might enjoy. By collecting more than 100 billion ‘scrobbles’ – reports to the service whenever a compatible app plays a tune – it has by far the largest taste database to work with. last.fm
Spotify
You can scrobble with Spotify, sure, but its own recommendation tools have been making massive strides, too. Premium users get custom-generated playlists based on past plays, and a selection of daily mixes featuring favourite tracks and closely related sounds. spotify.com
Every Noise At Once
Every Noise maps genres and artists in a scientific way, with each direction representing a different kind of sound. Click an artist or genre to hear a preview, and click the pulse or playlist links to head to related collections. everynoise.com
