If you’ve made a decision to start training for an event, or just want to get in better shape, it can be tempting to splurge on new gear, a gym membership and a shiny fitness tracker. But in reality, you only need a few key things to get moving, avoid injury and stay motivated.

Personal trainer Julia Buckley ( juliabuckl­eyfitness.com) says: “You don’t need fancy kit. In fact, you don’t really need any equipment for most goals. The main thing is to get a plan in mind and get it done.”
