Lomography Art Lens The Lomo brand is best known for its weird, wonderful and cheap analogue cameras. But here it has gone the extra mile, reviving an optical design from 1839 by Daguerre and Chevalier off the back of a successful Kickstarter crowdfunder. Available for Canon’s EF mount, in black or retro brass finish, it not only looks great in a Heath Robinson/Jules Verne manner, but playing with depth of field effects and subtly blurring backgrounds to deliver heaps of atmosphere in-camera is the main lure. £399 lomography.com

Sony SF -G UHS -II SD cards Like the others here, the Canon 77D requires an SD card to store images. These new super fast cards – in fact they are pitched as the fastest available in the world currently (giving a ‘Class 10’ SD speed class performance, or Class 3 UHS speed class) – are designed for high resolution DSLRs and also those shooting memory hungry video clips (such as 4K). From £89 (32GB) sony.co.uk

Palette Controller A modular system of controls, some ape-ing arcade game buttons, this takes the place of the computer mouse and is configurable to match image-editing usage. Designed to speed up image processing and cataloguing – providing, for example, a 40% time saving when using Adobe Lightroom – its dials, buttons and sliders are function assignable. A small square box, or ‘core’, is the brains behind Palette, and connects to computer via USB. From £219 palettegear.com

Rotolight AEOS Better than simply buying a flashgun, if you want seriously good results take a look at this portable LED continuous light and flash combined with ultra thin construction. Ideal for photographers shooting outdoors, this weighs 1.5kg and is just 1cm ‘ thick’. From £899.98 rotolight.com

Epson SureColor SC -P5000 Want to make the best of the 77D’s image quality and prefer to do your own printing in-house? Print stalwart Epson’s notable P5000 is a beast of a machine that can handle anything from panoramic prints, through A2+ posters, to fine art sheet media, including poster board. £1,795 epson.co.uk
