The Ding Smart Doorbell enables you to have eyes and ears on the door at all times

-

Hold onto your hats, people – the smart doorbell market is heating up this summer! In August, a new John Lewis and Design Councilbacked doorbell will be winging its way to customers. The Ding Smart Doorbell was funded by over 200 per cent on Kickstarter, promising to save customers from the pain of a missed parcel or unwanted visitor.

An outside doorbell button, a fabric-covered doorbell chime and a smartphone app (iOS, Android) make up the Ding, with DECT tech (as found in cordless phones) facilitating communication between the doorbell and chime. When the doorbell is pressed, the chimes dings through your home and places a voice call through the Ding app, enabling you to talk with whoever is at your door.

Smart doorbells, including the Richard Branson-backed Ring Video Doorbell, are on the rise among security-conscious homeowners. Giving you the power to tell sales people to jog on, and speak directly to posties when rearranging delivery, Ding can be also be configured to fit in with family life. Parents of babies can, for example (via the app), configure Ding to turn off the chime during naptime. It also enables you to remotely let in visitors, even if you’re elsewhere.

The Ding chime can be wall-mounted or placed on any flat surface, with the doorbell button (offering six months’ battery) adopting a click-to-install design. The Ding Smart Doorbell is available for pre-order now, with shipping in August. Visit dingproducts.com for more information.
