ElecGear Nut 3

All right, it’s a bit fat, and the battery life is unlikely to be close to the eight months that have been claimed. But the Bluetoothpacking Nut 3 has good range, a loud alarm, and it’s cheap enough to buy a few and attach them everywhere – you can manage up to 10 with the app. £16, amazon.co.uk

TKStar PS110

Bluetooth is, by design, a low-range medium. If you really want to find out just where your precious items have gone, something like this is essential. Pop in a SIM card, and you can call the magnetic PS110 to find out exactly where it is within a range of five metres. £39, tkstargps.com

Mynt

Tiny but encased in steel, this thing-finder is fairly standard Bluetooth fare – it alerts your phone when it loses a Bluetooth connection, or beeps when you ask it to beep – but it’s the integrated button, for things like selfies and music control, that’s the key feature on offer here. £20, mynt.slightech.com
