Your music and the world in balance

Sony has reimagined the in-ear headphone with the Xperia Ear Duo

-

The rise of true wireless headphones has given us the freedom to enjoy our music without cables or bulky headsets. We can listen anywhere, any time, but it’s still important to keep connected to the world around you. Whether you’re catching a train, driving, cycling, in the office around colleagues, or walking down the street.

Sony’s innovative new Xperia Ear Duo smart headphones give you a new listening experience, very different from traditional or noise-cancelling cans. They’re made for people who want to listen to their tunes (or podcasts, or anything else) anywhere, but also want to keep that connection without zoning out from the world. Sony’s clever in-ear kit pioneers a technology known as Dual Listening, which means sound from the headphones and outside world are kept in balance. The earphones don’t actually fill your ear canal, but instead use a nifty bit of tech called a Spatial Acoustic Conductor to transmit sound directly to you.

The audio is dynamically balanced, so if you move somewhere noisy, the music gets louder. Combined with a lightweight, comfortable ergonomic design, you can wear the Ear Duo all day and never have to worry about knowing what’s going on. Instead of isolating you, it keeps you in the moment.

It’s not just about music. You can keep the Ear Duo on all the time, staying connected in a new way. The Ear Duo app for iOS* and Android works with Siri and Google™, depending on your flavour of phone, with just a tap of the earpiece using the Talk and Tap feature. Its four built-in mics pick up your voice precisely and cleanly, including for calls.

It’s even got its own built-in Smart Assist tool that can tell you useful information when you need it. An array of sensors knows where you are or what kind of activity you’re doing, so you get only what’s relevant.

To make it as easy to use as possible, there are some clever control options. You can tap the units themselves, but the Ear Duo can also be controlled with gestures of your head – nodding to answer a call, for example.

The Ear Duo also comes with a case that doubles as a charger. With quick charging built-in, a seven-minute charge gives an hour of listening, and the case gives three charges from its built-in battery, for all-day listening.

Sony’s new Xperia Ear Duo is £249, and is available from the Sony Mobile Store ( sonymobile.com), Amazon UK and Grattan, in black or gold, now.
