We’re not sure if bikes have their own folklore – our research grant is still pending. But, if they do, Extans’s Akhal Shadow would be the kind of beast they only ever dared to discuss in hushed tones. It’s hand-made from precision-engineered components, including a full-carbon body, CNC-machined aluminium head, dropouts and seat clamp, Shimano Dura Ace BR-R9100 brakes and a full-carbon wheelset with Pirelli P Zero 28-622 tyres. But while the constituent parts are impressive, the whole is utterly breathtaking – every inch has been exquisitely designed to guarantee it will turn heads wherever you ride. This bike has a poise that makes it truly exceptional.
