ON THE ROCKS

-

Without even taking into account its stellar cast, this powerful comedy- drama about marriage, growing old, and the bittersweet relationship between parents and their grown kids is, in true Sofia Coppola fashion, both lovely and eccentric. It also has a reasonable amount of hilarity sprinkled in, courtesy of performers like Marlon Wayans. Add Bill Murray’s and Rashida Jones’ spot- on acting chops to the mix, and you’ve got a movie with depth and tenderness that’s just the ticket for a movie night with the parentals. FIREBALL: VISITORS FROM DARKER WORLDS

Though sci- fi movies said we’d be travelling across galaxies by now, space is still very much the last frontier for humankind. Luckily, we have people like Werner Herzog who can whet our appetite without us having to pay several hundred thousand dollars to buy a ticket to the ISS. In his latest documentary, he explores how meteorites and deep impacts have influenced cultures throughout human history and awakened our curiosity about the other realms, spiritual and otherwise. An epic movie to watch. Release date: 13 November

A CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS

For the last few decades, the Peanuts gang have always been a part of many Americans’ holiday traditions, airing free on broadcast TV. This year, however, as a result of Apple’s partnership with Peanuts, fans of the holiday special will be hard-pressed to find it on any major TV network. The good news is that it’s still free. Apple TV+ subscribers will have the privilege of watching it earlier than others, but it’ll still be free for viewing on the Apple TV app from December 11 to 13 for non-subscribers.
