KITTING OUT A NEW KITCHEN? LG HAS ALL YOU NEED…

Unveiled (virtually) at CES, this chic kitchen and utility room collection blends modern materials, top tech and timeless style

-

CES is one of the biggest dates in the tech calendar and LG is always one of the biggest exhibitors there. This year, of course, the event was purely online and ‘virtual’, but LG still brought the goods, with its 2021 line-up of kitchen appliances. No, sorry, its 2021 lineup of ‘Furniture Concept Appliances’.

For those looking to update their kitchens – something we’ve all been thinking about since we’ve been spending rather more time in them than usual – built-in appliances remain a popular option. However, what LG has come up with here is a set of appliances that don’t need to be secreted behind identical doors and panels. As LG puts it, they ‘blur the line between state-of-the-art home appliances and designer furnishings’.

Presented in a ‘virtual showroom’ where you could choose your desired colour finishes for both your dream kitchen and the appliances themselves, the range includes everything the modern home needs. Specifically, a fridge, fridge freezer, microwave, dishwasher, water purifier, WashTower and Styler.

So what the hell are a ‘WashTower’ and ‘Styler’ you may well ask? This is always the great thing about CES, whether it’s in Las Vegas or on a web browser – you get to see home wares and tech that you just don’t generally bump into in Currys.

Perhaps slightly disappointingly, a WashTower is a washing machine with a tumble dryer piled on top of it. A Styler, however, is what can only be described as a small wardrobe that fills up with steam, and has clothes hangers that waft about slightly, gently shaking your clothes in that delightful, steamy ambience. The result: your clothes are gently refreshed and de-creased, ready to wear to the office the next day. At such time in 2021 as your office reopens, at any rate.

LG Furniture Concept Appliances can be customised for you with a cutting-edge choice of colours and materials. Finishes include FENIX, which is a tactile yet fingerprint-resistant material from Italy. So now you can look and touch.
