Guru’s doorbell has been suspiciously silent this month, and he appears to be mostly obsessed with the weather, thus you get your regularly scheduled dose of grumpiness. Lucky you!

Maybe we’ll change the formula a bit and look at ways to be less hate-filled, though, as Guru has upgraded his collection of seasonal affective disorder preventatives. On his desk, annoyingly placed half way in front of his monitor, is the Lumie Vitamin L Lamp (£100), tuned magnificently to sunlight temperature and constantly blasting GaGu in the face with its therapeutic photons.

Next to GaGu’s bed would be another Lumie product, the Bodyclock Shine 300 (£120) but he doesn’t want Lumie getting any ideas so instead he’s gone for the £405 Philips Smartsleep Connected. It gently wakes GaGu up with summery rays, tricking his brain into thinking it’s actually light outside, and positively infuriating Mrs Guru who’d rather snooze. Guru has also instituted an actual lunch hour in his daily routine, during which he leaves the house with his dog Teeth, eats a sausage roll, and soaks up actual sunbeams. This is obviously deeply unpleasant in the moment, though the punishment meted out by the elements is diminished somewhat by GaGu’s lovely new coat. It’s a Uniqlo Balmacaan, which costs £109 and is dead comfy and warm. So what if it’s not really practical in the rain? Everyone needs a good, fashionable donkey jacket, and this one covers up Guru’s considerable donkey-sized thorax. That, reader, is a mood lifter for all involved.
