USE TECH TO REALLY GET THINGS DONE

-

The quest to be productive and reach inbox zero can feel never-ending. Tech often seems like the problem. If we could only switch off our emails for a few days, the world would be better, right? But the answer isn’t to ditch your devices; it’s to find multitasking essentials that work for you and help to minimise distractions, not add to them.

Start by refreshing your essential tools. Maybe your laptop keeps breaking down, or your dodgy Wi-Fi connection interrupts your flow. In that case, you must either commit to repairing your tech or consider recycling and replacing it. Buy new devices that are reliable, functional and can multitask. Like a laptop that allows you to switch between work and play instantly. Or a tablet built for on-the-go note-taking as well as on-the-go gaming. Everyone’s priorities are different, but if you can’t decide which device suits you, choosing the one with a big, bold, bright screen is always an excellent first port of call.

In the new year, we’re no longer grinning and bearing it or working ourselves to exhaustion. We must make ourselves happy, comfortable and focused to enjoy what we do. A good pair of noise-cancelling headphones is a must-have, especially if you work in an office filled with distractions and the potential for auditory overwhelm. Consider upgrading your desk with a smart lamp to illuminate your space and elevate your energy, especially one that’s adjustable so you can change the colour temperature throughout the day. Add more ease to your long typing sessions with an ergonomic keyboard designed to cushion your wrists or a desk chair built to improve your posture and reduce back pain.

Most importantly, find ways of working that work for you. There’s so much productivity advice out there, especially at this time of year, that the pressure to optimise your office space, your daily routine and the tech you use can feel overwhelming. Start small and consider upgrades to the way you work that prioritise comfort, enjoyment and ease above all else.
