MAKE FUN A PART OF YOUR SELF-DEVELOPMENT

-

It’s tempting to make a long list of strict resolutions in January. But everyone’s number one resolution should be to prioritise fun and rest in 2024 as much as productivity and self-development. If you’re not sure what you enjoy because you’ve been focused on work, social commitments and making it to the new year in one piece, you’re not alone.

All you need to know is that research shows rest is essential for mental well-being, and play is vital for creativity and connection. Importantly, what constitutes rest and play can look a little different for everyone. The key is to lean into what feels good, and you can choose tech to help you relax, not cause you more stress.

Maybe you want to do nothing but kick back and listen to music. In that case, invest in a great pair of high-end headphones that deliver rich, clear audio and excellent noise-cancelling and pair them with a top-quality music player. If learning is your jam, download a language app, take keyboard lessons or buy a camera to finally lean into your passion for photography. Or, if you love losing yourself in a game for hours on end, grab a high-end console and a TV optimised for gaming, a handheld device for fun on the move or a virtual reality headset for ultimate immersion.

Maybe your idea of enjoyment and relaxation is turning all of your tech off and spending time outside surrounded by nature – we get it. In that case, devices can play a helpful role in giving you more peace of mind as you’re enjoying the wilderness, like a high-end GPS watch that’s solar-powered and will keep track of your route so that you don’t have to.

If you’re desperate to try a new hobby this year, record your adventures so you can share them and remember them. A state-ofthe-art drone allows you to explore new environments you’d have never seen for yourself on foot. Or, if you’re feeling daring, you can clip an action cam to your clothes as you embark on new extreme sports, like surfing and snowboarding.
