Ale Trail expands in St Pete/Clearwater, Florida

The craft beer scene on Florida’s Gulf Coast is booming, with more than 27 (and growing) independent breweries making up the St Pete/Clearwater Craft Beer Trail. Stretching from Tarpon Springs to Gulfport (an hour’s drive), this suds trail includes the oldest craft brewery (Dunedin Brewery) in Florida, to some of the youngest (Crooked Thumb), offering beer aficionados and newbies alike an opportunity to sample a range of hand-crafted brews, tour a brewery or get a growler to go. Cycle Brewery, the first craft brewery in downtown St Petersburg, features a brewhouse in back and tasting room up front offering world-class beers with 12 rotating taps listed on the chalkboard. Top beers to sample include Biere de Cafe, a brown ale made with coffee and chocolate, a creamy Nitro Stout, as well as the ever-popular Apricot Peach Ale.
