Why?
On the south side of Amsterdam in the neighbourhood of De Pijp is one of the largest outdoor markets in The Netherlands. Hundreds of stalls line both sides of Albert Cuypstraat, offering discounts and bargains for locals and tourists. Fresh fruit, vegetables, cheeses, fish and Dutch specialties are sold six days a week. Taste the freshly made stroopwafels (waffle cookies), poffertjes (Dutch pancakes), or marinated haring as you explore the various flea markets scattered amidst the food vendors. Flavours of Turkey and Morocco also abound in this multicultural community full of ethnic shops, cafés, restaurants and trendy bars — a lively place both day and night.
