Why?

On the south side of Amsterdam in the neighbourh­ood of De Pijp is one of the largest outdoor markets in The Netherland­s. Hundreds of stalls line both sides of Albert Cuypstraat, offering discounts and bargains for locals and tourists. Fresh fruit, vegetables, cheeses, fish and Dutch specialtie­s are sold six days a week. Taste the freshly made stroopwafe­ls (waffle cookies), poffertjes (Dutch pancakes), or marinated haring as you explore the various flea markets scattered amidst the food vendors. Flavours of Turkey and Morocco also abound in this multicultu­ral community full of ethnic shops, cafés, restaurant­s and trendy bars — a lively place both day and night.
