Theatre Antigonish invites community to season launch
Theatre Antigonish (TA) will host its annual season launch and information session Thursday, Sept. 13.
The gathering will get underway at 5 p.m. at St. F.X.’S Bauer Theatre.
People are encouraged to come and hear about TA’S line-up for the 2018-19 season, some exciting new community partnerships and ways for anyone to become involved.
Now entering its 44th year, TA is a professionally-led community theatre organization, offering high quality productions at the Bauer Theatre during the fall and winter months.
As a non-profit organization, TA brings together St. F.X. students and members of the local community to work together on all aspects of the plays, including acting, designing, set-building, sound and light and promotions.
Along with the unveiling of the TA line-up by artistic director Andrea Boyd, people will learn about opportunities to participate both on-stage and off-stage and sign up for auditions or volunteer roles.
Boyd and guests will also
announce some exciting new partnerships and additions to the regular program.
As in past years, there will be a call out for actors, stage managers, designers, ushers, sewers, builders, publicists, and technicians.
No prior experience is necessary, and new participants are welcome in all aspects of the productions.
The Bauer Theatre is a busy place, having just wrapped up a very successful summer with the professional company Festival Antigonish Summer Theatre.
“It has been a great summer with Festival Antigonish,” FAST and TA managing director Reema Fuller said.
“Now it is time, once again, for our talented community to have their moment in the spotlight and on the stage.”
She added Boyd has programmed “an excellent season” for TA.
“We cannot wait to announce the program at the launch. We recognize September is a busy time for many people so the actual event will be short – under an hour – but there will be an opportunity to speak with various members of the team,” Fuller said.
