Funeral service for the late Barbara Shupe, 88, Antigonish, was held August 29 in St. Ninian Cathedral with Father Donald Macgillivr­ay officiatin­g. Burial was in the parish cemetery.

Mrs. Shupe died August 24, 2018, in R.K. Macdonald Nursing Home, Antigonish.

Readers at the funeral Mass were Amanda Macisaac and Hollie Pelly. Reegan Beaton, Ben Beaton and Ethan Macisaac presented the offertory gifts. Music was provided by Emery van de Wiel, Grace Rose and John Pellerin.

Urn bearers were Matthew Macisaac and Paul Shupe.

Born September 25, 1929, in West Bay Road, she was a daughter of the late Mary Macinnis. She was a seamstress most her life and a devoted Catholic, with great faith considerin­g the hardships she went through in life. She enjoyed playing cards with her friends, reading books and making homemade goodies, such as strawberry jam. She valued her family and always looked forward to Sunday dinners. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

She is survived by daughter, Diane (Willie) Macisaac, Ohio; son, Artie Shupe, Antigonish; daughter-in-law, Cindy, Dartmouth; five grandchild­ren, Barbie, Matthew (Hollie) and Amanda Macisaac (Will); Tammy Germon, Paul Shupe; step-granddaugh­ter, Shannon Ferguson; eight greatgrand­children, Reegan, Ben, Brandon, Ethan, Logan, Emily, Rebecca and Jason.

She was predecease­d by her husband, Arthur; daughter, Betty; son, Sean.

Memorial donations may be made to the R.K. Macdonald Nursing Home Foundation.
