Funeral ser­vice for the late Bar­bara Shupe, 88, Antigo­nish, was held Au­gust 29 in St. Ninian Cathe­dral with Fa­ther Don­ald Macgillivray of­fi­ci­at­ing. Burial was in the parish ceme­tery.

Mrs. Shupe died Au­gust 24, 2018, in R.K. Mac­don­ald Nurs­ing Home, Antigo­nish.

Read­ers at the funeral Mass were Amanda Macisaac and Hol­lie Pelly. Ree­gan Beaton, Ben Beaton and Ethan Macisaac pre­sented the of­fer­tory gifts. Mu­sic was pro­vided by Emery van de Wiel, Grace Rose and John Pel­lerin.

Urn bear­ers were Matthew Macisaac and Paul Shupe.

Born Septem­ber 25, 1929, in West Bay Road, she was a daugh­ter of the late Mary Macin­nis. She was a seam­stress most her life and a de­voted Catholic, with great faith con­sid­er­ing the hard­ships she went through in life. She en­joyed play­ing cards with her friends, read­ing books and mak­ing home­made good­ies, such as straw­berry jam. She val­ued her fam­ily and al­ways looked for­ward to Sun­day din­ners. She was the last sur­viv­ing mem­ber of her im­me­di­ate fam­ily.

She is sur­vived by daugh­ter, Diane (Wil­lie) Macisaac, Ohio; son, Ar­tie Shupe, Antigo­nish; daugh­ter-in-law, Cindy, Dart­mouth; five grand­chil­dren, Bar­bie, Matthew (Hol­lie) and Amanda Macisaac (Will); Tammy Ger­mon, Paul Shupe; step-grand­daugh­ter, Shan­non Fer­gu­son; eight great­grand­chil­dren, Ree­gan, Ben, Bran­don, Ethan, Lo­gan, Emily, Re­becca and Ja­son.

She was pre­de­ceased by her hus­band, Arthur; daugh­ter, Betty; son, Sean.
