Funeral ser­vice for the late Leo Joseph ‘Snap­per’ Mac­don­ald 62, Sol­diers Cove, was held Au­gust 29 in Im­mac­u­late Con­cep­tion Ro­man Catholic Church, Barra Head, with Fa­ther Dun­can Macisaac of­fi­ci­at­ing.

Mr. Mac­don­ald died Au­gust 23, 2018.

Born May 24, 1956, in Sol­diers Cove, he was the son of Mar­garet ‘Peggy’ Col­let and the late Edmond Col­let. He was a well­known au­to­mo­tive and heavy duty me­chanic, who ser­viced the sur­round­ing com­mu­ni­ties for more than 37 years. After grad­u­a­tion, he spent his ear­lier years with his un­cle in the mine in Revel­stoke Bri­tish Columbia. He worked at Chrysler in Syd­ney, owned and man­aged the Ul­tra­mar in St. Peters, later worked at the bus garage and was re­cently em­ployed with Hertz Rental and Equip­ment in Fort Mcmurray for the past five years. On his days off, he worked at the shop.

Be­sides his mother, he is sur­vived by five chil­dren, Josh (Cas­san­dra), Ir­ish Cove; Matt (Paula), River Bour­geois; De­van, St. Peters; Brett (Sam) Chapel Is­land; Tasha, Sol­diers Cove; five grand­chil­dren Ben, Ella, Piper, River, Isla; four brothers, An­gus, Fran­cis, Wil­lie Joe (Joy), all of Sol­diers Cove; Mike (Terri), Syd­ney River; three sis­ters, Mary Lizzie, Barra Head; Ju­liana (Wayne), Madonna, both of Sol­diers Cove; aunts, un­cles, ex­tended fam­ily; long­time com­pan­ion, Loretta.

He was pre­de­ceased by his wife, Colleen; god­mother, Agnes.
