Fu­neral ser­vice for the late Robert Stan­ley Reid, 84, Liver­pool, for­merly of Port Hil­ford, Guys­bor­ough County, was held Oc­to­ber 22 in G.W. Gif­fin Fu­neral Home, St. Mary’s Chapel, Sher­brooke, with Rev­erend Derek Elsworth of­fi­ci­at­ing. Burial was in Cherry Hill Cemetery, Port Hil­ford.

Mr. Reid died Oc­to­ber 17, 2018, in Har­bour View Haven Nurs­ing Home, Lunen­burg.

Born in Port Hil­ford, he was a son of the late Stan­ley and Catherine (Cameron) Reid. Raised in Port Hil­ford, he at­tended high school in New Glas­gow and Aca­dia Univer­sity, Wolfville. He moved to Cal­gary, Al­berta, where he worked con­struct­ing oil re­finer­ies. He re­turned home in 1980 to raise sheep on the fam­ily homestead. He en­joyed his horses, hunt­ing and trav­el­ling, go­ing around the world in the 1960s. He also en­joyed pol­i­tics, cur­rent af­fairs, world his­tory, vis­it­ing within the com­mu­nity and rem­i­nisc­ing about life in gen­eral.

He is sur­vived by his wife of 44 years, El­iz­a­beth; son, Ian (Gail) Reid; two grand­chil­dren, Han­nah and Emily Reid; three broth­ers, Lloyd, Gra­ham (Ruth), Free­man (Sharon); sis­ter, Mary (Clif­ford) Kaiser; many nieces, neph­ews and their fam­i­lies. He was pre­de­ceased by a sis­ter, Florence Field.
