ROBERT STANLEY REID
Funeral service for the late Robert Stanley Reid, 84, Liverpool, formerly of Port Hilford, Guysborough County, was held October 22 in G.W. Giffin Funeral Home, St. Mary’s Chapel, Sherbrooke, with Reverend Derek Elsworth officiating. Burial was in Cherry Hill Cemetery, Port Hilford.
Mr. Reid died October 17, 2018, in Harbour View Haven Nursing Home, Lunenburg.
Born in Port Hilford, he was a son of the late Stanley and Catherine (Cameron) Reid. Raised in Port Hilford, he attended high school in New Glasgow and Acadia University, Wolfville. He moved to Calgary, Alberta, where he worked constructing oil refineries. He returned home in 1980 to raise sheep on the family homestead. He enjoyed his horses, hunting and travelling, going around the world in the 1960s. He also enjoyed politics, current affairs, world history, visiting within the community and reminiscing about life in general.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Elizabeth; son, Ian (Gail) Reid; two grandchildren, Hannah and Emily Reid; three brothers, Lloyd, Graham (Ruth), Freeman (Sharon); sister, Mary (Clifford) Kaiser; many nieces, nephews and their families. He was predeceased by a sister, Florence Field.
