DARTT (Dee), Judith Katherine "Judy"

-

Age 71, resident of Trenton, passed away July 6, 2020, in Ivey’s Terrace Nursing Home after a valiant battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Judy was born in New Glasgow, on April 21, 1949. She was the only daughter of the late Henry and Sadie (Mackay) Dee and wife of the late Alvin "Lee" Dartt, Jr. She devoted her life to her husband and three girls. Over the years, she cared for many children in her home and they became a part of her family. Lovingly known as "Mama Jude", she welcomed everyone in her home for a sit on the deck, a warm chat, a good laugh or a swim in the pool and made sure you didn’t leave hungry. She honed her bowling skills every Wednesday morning for almost three decades as a member of the Housewives’ League. Her teammates graciously supported her bowling even when the progression of her disease made it challenging. It was a source of great joy for her as was going out with her walking buddies, sitting alone with a great book or watching a good mystery. She is survived by her daughters, Wanda (Sheldon Matthews), Kentville; Tracy (Lilla Bennett), Trenton; Amy Dartt, New Glasgow; brother, Alan (Carolyn Dee); sisters- in- law, Marilyn (Dave Raynard), Carla; as well as nieces, nephews and close cousins. She was predeceased by her brother Gordon Dee. A private family visitation will be held at the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow. A graveside Celebration of Life will take place at the Lorne Street Cemetery on Saturday, July 11th, at 1 p.m. Family and friends are welcome. All COVID-19 related public health measures will be maintained and respected during this difficult time and those attending the service are encouraged to wear a mask. In Judy’s memory, donations to the Alzheimer’s Society would be appreciated. Condolences may be sent by visiting: www.rhporter.ca
